Abstract

In the current economic and political realities for the Russian Federation, the task of transport corridors is not only to ensure transit traffic in the Eurasian space. Export import and domestic routes are priorities in the work of the national transport complex. The use of multimodal cargo delivery schemes along the routes of the North – South international transport corridor (ITC) involves several logistics routes, each of which has a certain variability. The Russian transport system, in particular, its regional part of the North – South ITC, allows the combined use of three types of transport in cargo transportation: automobile, water and rail.

This study is devoted to the theoretical aspects of the redistribution of cargo flows between different modes of transport on the main routes of the North – South ITC and its impact on the strategic planning of Russian economic activity. The article presents the results obtained in the course of the study, and provides a rationale for the applied research methodology. Conclusions are drawn and recommendations are given for the practical application of the results obtained, and prospects for further research in the field of strategic planning of transport enterprises on the routes of the North – South ITC are outlined.
